I'm a self-taught artist from Silver Spring, Maryland, and I invite you to immerse yourself in my captivating world of abstract expressionism, where fluid acrylics and organic forms dance across the canvas, evoking the mesmerizing beauty of the natural world.
I discovered my passion for painting two years ago, after my
50th birthday. As a self-taught artist based in Silver Spring, Maryland, my
artistic journey began when I bought a paint set for my son, who loves to draw.
Intrigued by the colors and possibilities, I started experimenting with the
paints myself and soon found myself captivated by the creative process.
Inspired by the work of renowned abstract expressionist Mark
Rothko, I have embraced the use of fluid acrylics to create my own unique style
of abstract art. My paintings are characterized by organic forms, flowing
shapes, and shades of blue and teal that evoke the natural world, particularly
the ocean and microscopic life. Through my art, I invite viewers to explore
their own interpretations and emotions, as they immerse themselves in the
depths of my abstract compositions.
When viewing my paintings, I hope that one can't help but
feel a sense of movement and energy, as if the colors and shapes are dancing
across the canvas. The fluid nature of my work creates a sense of depth and
mystery, encouraging the viewer to dive deeper into the artwork and explore the
hidden layers and meanings within. Through the use of color and form, I hope to
create a sense of calm and tranquility, providing a peaceful oasis for the mind
to wander and reflect.
For me, painting is a meditative process that allows me to be
fully in the moment. I become lost in the flow of colors and the interplay of
shapes, finding a sense of joy and fulfillment in the act of creation. I hope this
passion come to light in my artwork, inviting viewers to share in the sense of
wonder and discovery that I experience while painting.
"Fluid Formations: Nature's Abstract Expressions"
at Space 710 at Kefa Cafe marks my first to showcase my creative journey thus
far. Through my abstract paintings, I hope to inspire others to embrace their
own creativity and find the courage to pursue their passions, no matter their
age or background.
